The Department, which has been an integral part of the College ever since its inception offering instruction in Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry to students of the various core branches of engineering, is devoted to foster the understanding of basic scientific principles . The academic programs of this department are designed to meet the requirements of the fast growing technology.

The Department offers several educational programs for undergraduate students. The overriding objectives of these programs are,

To inform and motivate students to study the fundamental aspects of science and its applications
To teach Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics for U.G. programs
To enable the students to analyze and apply mathematical and scientific techniques in engineering technology
To encourage students to pursue careers in science and engineering

Uniqueness

First year B.Tech students are introduced to the world of science and engineering through programs that engage them in various activities under the effective guidance of the faculty. The Department of Basic Sciences caters for the analytic requirements of the B.Tech students.

VISION

To establish a centre of excellence in basic sciences such as Mathematics, Physics and chemistry that provide foundation for engineering studies and also in communication skills that helps students to express themselves effectively and to create proficient engineers who can be globally challenged in engineering fundamentals-experimental, analytical, computational and designing abilities.

Keeping the core objectives to create academic excellencein fundamental sciences, the Department of science and Humanities aims to encourage advanced teaching learning process and quality research at individual department and institutional level. To make students be fit in the present scenario of the business atmosphere.To mould the student to be a better Decision maker. To raise up an engineer to be a person of moral and ethical values. To upgrade the quality of technical education and produce dynamic engineers and entrepreneurs for the country ,with a sole aim to spot amongst the best educational institutionsof the nation.

The Department of Basic Sciences which has been an integral part of the college ever since its inception, has evolved and grown in terms of methodology of teaching, expertise and output of students. The faculty of the department comprises of qualified and goal-oriented members. The Department has a mission to foster collaborative, interdisciplinary research in different areas of Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics that will address the future needs of the society. Faculty members have contributed to academics by contributing research articles in journals, presenting papers in conferences and delivering guest lectures.The Department has set high academic standards. The emphasis is to make students understand the importance of Basic Sciences and its applications in the real world and particularly in Engineering and Computer Applications.
